Branded was born in 2014 when Seth and Stacey realized there was a real need for a western shop in Central Illinois. Seth wanted a brown felt cowboy hat, and the only option was to order online…or open a shop. They chose to open a shop, and the rest is history.
Toward the end of 2016, I sent Seth an email to see if he and Stacey would be willing to meet with me and answer some questions about opening a boot and tack shop of my own outside of Peoria. I wasn’t planning on being direct competition- after nearly 17 years in clothing retail, the last thing I wanted to do was have a store full of clothes.
After some discussion, he came up with a partnership, and everything began falling into place. I started working in the store in January of 2017, we signed some papers and made it official, and we were off and running.
In March of 2017, we moved from our original Metro Center location to our second location on Sheridan Road. We added additional brands and little by little added more products until we outgrew that space as well.
In March of 2020, days before the Covid-19 pandemic forced us to close our doors for a couple of months, we moved next door to double our retail space. We continue to operate out of that space, although we put in a doorway and expanded back into the adjacent unit in August of 2022.
